FPV Fasteners
Fasteners are the parts that keep an FPV aircraft assembled: motor screws, standoffs, stack hardware, prop nuts, washers and the small nylon parts that fail first in a crash. They are cheap individually and disproportionately annoying to run out of mid-build.
Screw sizes and materials
Most FPV hardware is metric. M2 screws appear on whoop and micro builds, M3 is the standard for motor mounts, stack standoffs and 5 inch frames, and M4 or M5 appears on larger frames and heavy-lift arms. Steel is the default for strength; aluminium standoffs and screws save weight but strip more easily; nylon screws and standoffs are used where you want a deliberate breakaway point or electrical isolation.
Standoffs and stack hardware
Stacks are built on standoffs — typically M3, in heights such as 5 mm, 10 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm depending on whether you are mounting a flight controller, a 4-in-1 ESC, or both with an air gap. Nylon standoffs and nuts are common where crash damage should be absorbed by the hardware rather than the board. Check thread type and length against your frame's stack column height before ordering.
Small consumables worth stocking
- Motor screws in the length your frame and motors need, plus spares.
- Prop nuts or T-mount screws, which are the most commonly lost part.
- Nylon standoffs and nuts for stack mounting.
- M3 washers to spread load on carbon plates.
- Battery strap replacements and silicone anti-slip pads.
CSKYUAV supplies FPV fasteners and hardware from EMAX, GEPRC, HGLRC and BetaFPV, sold singly or in bulk kits, with OEM packaging for distributors. Match screw length to your frame and motor mounting hardware, and keep spares alongside your propellers.
Frequently Asked Questions
What screw size does a 5 inch frame use?
M3 is the standard for motor mounts and stack standoffs on 5 inch builds. Micro builds often use M2, and large heavy-lift frames may use M4 or larger.
Can long motor screws damage motors?
Yes. Screws that are too long can bottom out in the motor windings and short them. Always confirm the recommended screw length for your motor and arm thickness.
Steel, aluminium or nylon standoffs?
Steel is strongest, aluminium saves weight, and nylon absorbs crash energy and provides isolation. Many builds use metal standoffs for the stack and nylon hardware where breakaway behaviour is preferred.
What size standoff do I need for a stack?
It depends on your frame column height and whether you mount the ESC and flight controller together. Common heights are 5–30 mm; measure the available space before ordering.
Why do prop nuts keep coming loose?
Vibration and crashes loosen them. Use nyloc nuts or a thread-locking compound, check tightness before each session, and replace nuts that no longer grip.
Are bulk hardware kits worth buying?
For anyone building or repairing more than one aircraft, yes. Fasteners are the cheapest parts to lose and the most annoying to be missing during a build.
